How to bulk change Outlook standard contact field data
There are times when a single field needs to changed for multiple contacts as would be the case for a company name change.
The simplest way to accomplish the task is via the following
- Select the contact folder in which you wish to make the change (this is not applicable for multiple contact folders)
- Select one contact in which you want to change the value (for the sake of this example, going to use the CompanyName field) and make the appropriate change from old to new company name
- From the Outlook ribbon, select <View>
- Click on <View Settings>
- Select <Group By>
- Select Company as the Group By field
Once the above is done, exit View Settings. The contact folder will now be grouped by Company Name showing all contacts that have that value. Drag the group containing the old company name and drag it to the group with the new company name. Outlook will change the CompanyName value during the drag ‘n drop process.
